A new record was set Monday night in Cowley County when five tornadoes touched down when storms moved through the area. Records going back 68 years indicate that four tornadoes were recorded in 1984.
The first tornado damaged four power poles and was on the ground two minutes. The second tornado reported was over open ground but still knocked down power poles and damaged some trees. The third tornado, the highest rated at EF2, damaged trees, power poles, two sheds and a camper. More information of the other tornadoes will be released today.
Also during the same storm Monday night a non=injury roll over accident of a semi-truck and trailer was blamed on the high winds.
