Ponca City Wildcat AAA baseball played at home and won the second game of a double header against Oklahoma City’s Capitol Hill. The Wildcats dominated the second game 12-6 after Capitol Hill squeaked by 5-4 in the first game.
Two Graduating Newkirk soccer players ended their high school careers on the Class 4A All State team that beat the East team in the Annual East-West Game played in Broken Arrow. Emily Elliott and Kori Watkins were part of the West team in the overtime 3-2 win. Watters scored the first goal of the match and was assisted by her Newkirk team mate, Elliott. Watters tied the game at 2-2 in the last three minutes of regulation and she scored the winning goal on a penalty kick. The two Newkirk Lady tigers have been playing since they were eight years old.
The Ponca City Youth Triathlon is coming up June 23 at Lake Ponca and Wentz Pool. Cost is only $10. To register your athlete go to poncacityok.gov by June 20th. For more information call the parks and Recreation Department at 767-0430.
