Several fatalities were recorded by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol yesterday, reminding drivers to be careful during the summer months.
Late yesterday morning, in Leflore County, a pickup, driven by Don Mayes of Gore, went left of center and struck a pickup driven by Walter Alexander Fanning, of Miami, head on. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.
At approximately 8 o clock yesterday morning, a 1995 Chevy Pick up, driven by Hugo resident Williston Jefferson left the roadway and struck a culvert for unknown reasons. Jefferson was pronounced dead at the scene with no physical injuries. The accident is still under investigation.
And Glenn Goodrich of Bartlesville was pronounced dead at St. John’s Medical Center due to injuries sustained in a collision May 28. Goodrich died June 6. A unknown semi attempted a u-Turn and was struck by Goodrichs Toyota. The semi then left the scene of the accident. The Highway Patrol listed the cause as Failure to yield.
