The calendar shows a busy weekend for the city of Newkirk. The Newkirk Lions Club is hosting a pancake breakfast Saturday morning from 6:30 ’til 10 a.m. at the First Christian Church at 9th & Walnut. The breakfast includes pancakes and sausage for just $5 with proceeds helping provide vision care and scholarships for all Newkirk residents. The Newkirk Takedown Club will be hosting it’s annual Open Wrestling Tournament at Mark Branch Fieldhouse featuring 4 to 12 year old wrestlers from across the state. Action starts at 9 a.m. And the Newkirk High School Class of 2021 will hold their annual Turkey Dinner on Sunday from 11 a.m. ’til 1 p.m. in the elementary cafeteria. All proceeds go to the 2021 Senior After Prom.
