Homecoming Royalty Announced at PoHi

Ponca City Senior High School will host their Homecoming on Friday, September 30 at Sullins Stadium.  Po-Hi’s Homecoming Queen will be announced and crowned Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. in a coronation ceremony preceding the game between the Wildcats and the Bartlesville Bruins at 7:00 p.m. The 2016 Homecoming coronation ceremony is under the direction of Betsy Easley, Student Council Advisor.

The Homecoming Court consists of a freshman, sophomore, and junior class attendant and three senior class queen candidates.  The senior class has chosen the queen from among the senior queen candidates, and the winner will be announced at the game.

Rachelann Colson has been elected as the Freshman Attendant.  She is the daughter of Travis and Laura Colson.  Rachelann is a member of the Freshman Cheer squad, a member of the Po-Hi Chorale, and is an actor for the Ponca Playhouse Theater.  Rachelann is escorted by Hunter Goldman, son of Tobias Goldman and Natalie Goldman.  Hunter is a member of the Wildcat freshman football team and is a member of the Ponca City FFA.

Presenting flowers to Rachelann is Lanie Varner. Lanie is the daughter of Bart and Jill Varner. She is the Freshman Class Secretary, a member of the Po-Hi volleyball and track teams and is a Student Council Freshman Representative.

Samantha Stobbe is this evening’s Sophomore Attendant.  Samantha is the daughter of Steve and Wendy Stobbe. She is a Sophomore Student Council Representative, a Po-Hi Stepper and a member of the Wildcat tennis team.  Escorting Samantha is Coleton Edens, son of Jim Bob and Whitney Edens.  Coleton is a member of the Wildcat varsity football team and track team and is a member of the K-Pals 4H club.  Presenting flowers to Samantha is Dejah Norris, daughter of Nina Norris.  Dejah is the Sophomore Class President, a member of the Po-Hi varsity cheer squad and a member of the Po-Hi Afro-Am club.

The Junior Attendant is Nichole Beyer, daughter of Mike and Casey Dorigatti.  Nichole is a two-year member of the Po-Hi varsity cheer squad; she is captain of the Po-Hi swim team and is a two-year member of the Po-Hi soccer team.  Junior Logan King is Nichole’s escort.  Logan is the son of Becky King and Chris King.  He is a member of the Wildcat varsity football and track teams and is a member of the Po-Hi FFA.  Presenting flowers to Nichole is Presley Long.  Presley is the daughter of Jay and Sonja Long.  Presley is a Junior Class President, a member of the Po-Hi varsity cheer squad and is active in the youth group at St. Luke’s Church of the Nazarene.

The 2016 Queen Candidates are Emme Cain, Emily Ponce and Taylor Woodward.  Emme Cain is the daughter of Connie Macias and Bradey Cain.  She is a Senior Student Council representative, a five-year Wildcat football manager and is a member of St. Luke’s Church of the Nazarene.  After graduation, Emme plans to attend the University of Central Oklahoma to become a Physician’s Assistant.  Escorting Emme is senior Mitchell Wilson.  Mitchell is the son of Stacey and Brian Wilson.  He is a member of the Wildcat varsity football team, the Po-Hi soccer team and is a member of the Po-Hi orchestra.  After graduation, Mitchell plans to major in Engineering at Oklahoma State University.  Presenting flowers to Emme is Kaylie Hollis, daughter of Kirk and Kim Hollis.  Kaylie is the Senior Class Vice President, a Senior Student Council Representative, and is a member of Po-Hi’s National Honor Society. Kaylie is also a member of the Pioneer Bible youth group.

Queen Candidate Emily Ponce is the daughter of Tonya Jackson and Ruben Ponce and the granddaughter of Bernie and Marilynn Jackson.  She is the captain of the Po-Hi Steppers, President of the Po-Hi DECA chapter and is a Young Life member.  Emily’s future plans include attending Oklahoma State University to become a Nurse Anesthetist. Escorting Emily is Senior Brice McDougal, son of Brody and Amy McDougal.  Brice is the starting quarterback for the Po-Hi varsity football team and is a member of both the Po-Hi basketball and soccer teams. After graduation, Brice plans to major in Marine Biology and play collegiate sports.  Presenting flowers to Emily is Senior Caitlin Cannon.  Caitlin is the daughter of Heather Cannon.  She is a Po-Hi Student Council Senior Representative, and is a member of both the Po-Hi varsity soccer team and varsity volleyball team.

Queen Candidate Taylor Woodward is the daughter of Malena and John Munger and Jeff Woodward.  Taylor is a Lieutenant for the Po-Hi Steppers, and a member of the Free Will Baptist Church youth group.  Taylor’s post high school plans include attending the University of Oklahoma to pursue a degree in psychology.  Escorting Taylor is senior Brant Scott, son of Fred and Shasta Scott.  Brant is a member of the Wildcat varsity football team, a Young Life Vice President and enjoys hunting and fishing.  After graduation, Brant’s college plans include majoring in Marine Biology. Presenting flowers to Taylor is Lauren Champlin, daughter of Susan Adkins and Larry Champlin.  Lauren is the Senior Class President and Captain of the Po-Hi varsity cheerleading squad

Will Branstetter, son of Rex and Wendy Branstetter, will be crowning one of the queen candidates as the 2016 Homecoming Queen.  Will is the Po-Hi Student Council President, a member of the Po-Hi tennis team and is a Young Life President.  Will plans on attending Oklahoma State University to pursue a degree in Computer Science

Karly James will present the queen with her sash and flowers.  Karly is the daughter of Brian and Mary James. She is the Po-Hi Student Council Historian, and a member of Eastern Heights Christian Church youth group.

Betsy Easley, Student Council Advisor, said, “The lovely flowers to be presented to the Homecoming Court are being provided by Grand Flowers and Gifts.  The Po-Hi Steppers, the Marching Wildcats, and the Po-Hi Cheerleaders will be assisting with the ceremony. A special thank you goes to Mike and Kym White for assisting with not only the ceremony, but also with all of the Homecoming Week activities.  We would like to thank those who are providing the convertibles to transport the Homecoming royalty in the Homecoming parade.  We would also like to thank the judges for the Class Float competition.”
