Two brothers, Cody and Andrew Fields, were arrested Monday following an altercation with a Payne County Sheriff’s deputy who was responding to a disturbance at a home on Fairgrounds Road.
The call came in around 3:30 p.m. according to the court records. The same deputy had also responded to a domestic issue between the reporting party and Cody Fields on Sunday night.
The affidavit states that the officer knocked on the door of a residence, but received no answer. The officer heard banging and music coming from a shop nearby, and knocked on the door to the shop. Cody Fields answered the doors and the officer noticed he was in an agitated state. Another man in the shop was later identified as Andrew Fields. The officer tried to calm down the situation.
Cody kept raising his hands, yelling and talking about his ex-girlfriend. The officer attempted to place Cody in investigative detention to figure out what was going on.
After a heated moment which led to conflicts between the Fields’ and the officer, Cody and Andrew attempted to assault the officer to where the officer had to hold the two at gunpoint until backup arrived. The backup police arrived at 4 p.m. and Cody and Andrew were arrested. Cody Fields has been charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and obstructing, and Andrew Fields has been charged with assault and battery on an officer and obstructing. Both Cody and Andrew posted $20,000 bail bonds. Andrew is scheduled for a hearing on April 10.
