SOUTH HAVEN, Kan. – A semi truck caught on fire Tuesday afternoon along the Kansas Turnpike near South Haven in Sumner County, Ks.
The northbound lanes of the turnpike were closed for over half an hour as firefighters from the South Haven Volunteer Fire Department worked to put out the blaze. The firefighters on scene report that truck’s engine was the source of the fire. The Kansas Highway Patrol and Sumner County Sheriff’s Office later arrived on scene along with officials from the Kansas Turnpike Authority.
The fire was extinguished at approximately 2:30 p.m., but the northbound lanes have not been reopened. The Southbound lanes were not closed during the fire.
The smoke from the fire could been seen from a distance.
