Luqman Lundy was awarded the Northern Oklahoma College Jared Weiberg Endowed Scholarship for the 2016-2017 academic year.
The Jared Weiberg Endowed Scholarship was established by family and friends to help others achieve their goals. It is presented to a member of the Maverick Men’s Basketball team whose qualities include a strong work ethic, loyalty, unselfishness, and a passion for basketball. Luqman of Edgewater, New Jersey, is the sixteenth recipient of this award and will receive a $1,000 scholarship. He is a sophomore student majoring in communications.
NOC President Dr. Cheryl Evans and NOC Athletic Director Jeremy Hise presented the scholarship certificate to Luqman. Joining them are Jared Weiberg’s parents Mick and Vina Weiberg, and Head Coach Donnie Jackson.
The award was presented to Lundy just prior to the men’s basketball game played at NOC Tonkawa Wednesday evening.
Luqman Lundy’s name will be inscribed on the memorial plaque, which will be displayed in the lobby of the Vineyard Library-Administration Building located on the Tonkawa campus.
