District attorney in Payne County, Laura Austin Thomas, announced yesterday that an 18-year-old Perkins woman, Stephanie Payne, has been charged with neglect by caretaker.
Payne, is accused of withholding “necessary medications from several vulnerable adults at Red Bud Assisted Living in Perkins.” She is also accused of preparing the medications, throwing them away without administering them but logging that she had.
An arrest warrant with a $25,000 bond has been issued.
Payne faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000 if convicted. The charge comes after administration at Red Bud reported the alleged wrongdoings to the Perkins Police Department.
