NEWKIRK – Kay County Emergency Management Director Dennis Bonewell said on Monday that anyone who wants to apply for disaster assistance can do so until August 1.
Kay County was one of several counties in Oklahoma that was impacted by flooding in the month of May, which damaged homes and businesses in Kay County. And was one of 17 counties, along with Osage and Payne, that qualified for disaster assistance.
Residents and business owners in the area that were affected can apply for disaster assistance by calling FEMA’s toll-free number at 800-621-3362, or 800-462-7585. Applications can also be filled out online at at www.disasterassistance.gov.
Applicants can apply for a low-interest disaster loan online by using SBA’s secure website at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela.

Residents are asked to have zip code, directions to their property, damage conditions, insurance information, social security number, address and phone number in hand. Residents can apply online at DisasterAssistance.gov.
