PONCA CITY – Fundraising continues for the proposed mural design on Ponca City’s downtown grain elevator.
A total of $87,125 has been raised with $12,875 left to raise as the goal is $100,000. Anyone who wants to donate to the project can do so by going online to www.downtownponcacity.com/mural.
The elevator that has been dormant since 1959 will feature murals on both sides of the silos with a symmetrical ‘Mandala’ on one side and an original design by muralist Rick Sinnett entitled “Oklahoma Sunrise” on the other.
The elevator was one of five Ponca City sights added recently to the National Register of Historic Places which can be seen here.
