PONCA CITY – As August comes to a close, that means it’s the time of year where pads are popping and touchdowns are scored. This Friday, Aug. 30, will feature the first high school football games across northern Oklahoma for the 2019 season.

After a 14-1 season and winning  the Class A State Championship in 2018, the Tonkawa Buccaneers are looking forward to the 2019 season as they play host to the Blackwell Maroons in the Chikaskia River Rivalry at 7 p.m. Friday.

Following a 11-1 season and a Class A playoff run in 2018, The Morrison Wildcats play host to Kiefer at 7 p.m. The Perry Maroons are at home against the Fairview Yellowjackets. Fairview is another team that appeared in the Class A playoffs in 2018.

Out east in western Osage County, the Woodland Cougars opens up the season against Crescent at 7 p.m.

The Deer Creek-Lamont Eagles will make the short drive near Enid to face Kremlin-Hillsdale at 7 p.m.

Ponca City and Newkirk will start regular season play next week on Sept. 6. The Po-Hi Wildcats will travel to Enid, and the Newkirk Tigers will take on Kay county rival Tonkawa at home.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL LOCAL TEAMS THIS SEASON!!
