The City of Tonkawa isn’t blowing smoke when it comes to the issue of smoking.
The city council will meet in a special session Monday to discuss that very issue.
The council will seek to make all city-owned property, including city parks, smoke free. City streets and alleyways would be exempt.
Passing the ordinance would allow the city to apply for grant money through the Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust. Monies from the Trust are intended for ‘good health’ projects, such as walking trails.
The meeting begins at 10 a.m. Monday in the city hall council chambers, and is open to the public.
