The Kay County Sheriff Citizens Academy is almost completed and ready to kick off according to Kay County Sheriff Steve Kelley. “As a Kay County Sheriff Citizen Academy graduate you gain greater awareness and appreciation for the difficult challenges and decisions a deputy faces every day.”said the Sheriff.
Kelley said he would like to see a diverse group including bankers, businessmen and women, judges, homemakers, school teachers, media representatives, and citizens from all walks of life. The academy is free to participants. Classes are held to the maximum of 20 students. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, must pass a background check and you must live in the Kay County area.
Applications can be picked up at the Kay County Sheriff’s office. Classes will be on Thursday of each week from 6 to 9 p.m. and will last 12 weeks.
